IoT & hardware connects Farmso to the equipment on your farm — Bluetooth EID stick readers for ear tags, load bars and scales for weights, and environmental sensors for temperature and conditions. Readings flow into Farmso and are shown against the animals and premises they relate to, so a weight lands on the right animal and a fridge temperature sits with the right store.
On top of the raw readings you set thresholds and alerts: tell Farmso the safe range for a sensor and it warns you when a reading crosses the line — an overheating vaccine fridge, a scale reading outside the expected band. It is the same signal that powers cold-chain excursion detection in Supply & inventory.
Use case
A worker weighs a race with a load bar paired over Bluetooth. Each animal is scanned with the EID stick and its weight drops straight onto that animal’s record — no writing, no transcription. Meanwhile a sensor in the medicine fridge streams temperature; the manager has set a threshold, so when the fridge warms overnight Farmso raises an alert and flags the affected vaccine lot.
Set thresholds and alerts
- 1
Open IoT & Hardware
In the web app sidebar choose IoT & Hardware to see your connected readers, scales and sensors and their latest readings.
- 2
Review readings
See sensor and device readings plotted against the animals and premises they belong to.
- 3
Set a threshold
Define the safe range for a sensor — for example the temperature band for a vaccine fridge.
- 4
Turn on alerts
Enable alerts so Farmso notifies you the moment a reading crosses the threshold, feeding cold-chain excursion detection.
Pair devices in the field
- 1
Open the Devices tab
Tap the Devices tab to see paired hardware and discover new devices.
- 2
Pair a BLE reader
Run Bluetooth discovery and pair your EID stick reader; scans then route automatically into your active scan action.
- 3
Use phone NFC
For NFC ear tags, hold the tag to the top of the phone — no extra hardware needed.
- 4
Test read
Use test read to confirm a device is connected and returning tags before you work a full race.
IoT & hardware — Bluetooth EID readers, load bars and sensors — unlocks on the Premium plan. On Basic and Standard the Devices tab shows an inline upsell while still allowing camera and phone-NFC scanning, which are part of the core plan.
FAQ
Common ISO 11784/11785 Bluetooth stick readers (Allflex/Datamars, Tru-Test, Shearwell, Agrident), load bars/scales and environmental sensors, plus phone NFC. Pair them in the mobile Devices tab.
