1. Deleting from inside the app
This is the fastest route and is available on both the mobile app and the web app. Open Settings, go to the Danger Zone, and choose Delete account. You will be asked to confirm.
Only the owner of an organisation can delete it. Other team members can leave the organisation, which removes their access and their membership, but does not delete the farm records the organisation owns — those belong to the organisation rather than to the individual.
2. Requesting deletion without the app
If you cannot sign in, or you would rather not use the app, email support@farmso.org from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. Using the account’s own email address is how we confirm the request is really yours.
If you write from a different address, we may ask you to prove you control the account before we act — we will not delete a farm’s records on the word of someone we cannot identify.
We action verified requests within 30 days, and normally much sooner. The result is identical to deleting from inside the app.
3. What happens, and when
Deletion is not instant, on purpose. When it starts, your organisation is marked for deletion and access is cut off immediately — the account can no longer be used.
For 30 days after that, the deletion can be reversed: sign in again within the grace period and you will be offered the choice to restore the account, with everything intact. This exists because losing a herd’s entire compliance history to a mistaken tap is not a recoverable error, and 30 days is enough to notice.
Once the 30 days elapse, a scheduled job permanently erases the organisation and everything belonging to it. At that point the data is gone from the live system and cannot be recovered by you or by us.
4. What is deleted
Everything the organisation owns is erased: animal records and their digital identities, movements, premises, groups and batches, documents and photos you uploaded, compliance and certification records, inspections, appointments, tasks, invoices, team memberships, and your account profile and login details.
5. What is kept, and why
Two narrow categories survive deletion, and we would rather say so plainly than imply a clean slate that does not exist.
Billing and tax records: where a subscription was paid for, the record of that transaction is retained for as long as accounting and tax law requires. This is a legal obligation we cannot waive on request. These records are held by our payment providers (Stripe for web subscriptions, Apple or Google for in-app subscriptions) as well as by us, and they identify the transaction rather than your farm data.
On-chain animal identities: where an animal identity was anchored to a public blockchain, that anchor is a hash written to a ledger nobody controls, and it cannot be erased by us or by anyone else. It contains no personal data and no farm records — it is a one-way fingerprint that proves a record existed at a point in time, and it cannot be reversed to reveal what that record said. Your underlying data is deleted regardless.
6. Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, because those are billed by Apple and Google rather than by us and can only be cancelled where they were bought. Cancel it in your App Store account settings or your Google Play subscriptions before deleting, or you may continue to be charged for a service you can no longer reach.
Subscriptions bought on the Farmso website are cancelled as part of the deletion.
