Groups & herds

Organise animals into operational cohorts, let smart rules add them automatically, and act on the whole group at once with bulk actions.

Groups (also called herds or mobs) are operational cohorts — a way to organise animals by how you actually work them: a paddock, a weaning batch, a treatment cohort, a breeding mob. Instead of touching animals one by one, you manage the group and act on everyone in it at once.

Groups can be filled by hand or kept up to date automatically with smart rules — define a condition (species, age, premises, status) and matching animals are added for you as the herd changes.

Use case

A farmer creates a “Weaners — North Paddock” group with a smart rule that auto-adds any calf under eight months on that premises. When the vet prescribes a herd-wide drench, the farmer runs one bulk action — treat all — and every current member gets the treatment record and withdrawal period in a single step, offline if need be.

Name it, pick a kind/colour, and add members directly or from the FarmBoard.

  3. 3

    Add a smart rule

Groups in the field

  1. 1

    Open Animals → Groups

On the Animals tab, switch to the Groups segment.

  2. 2

    Open a group

Tap a group to see its members, count and smart-rule badge.

  3. 3

    Scan In

Use Scan In to add animals to the group as they pass through the race.

  4. 4

    Use the bulk bar

Select members and apply a bulk action — treat all, move all, add/remove — which queues offline and syncs later.

Smart rules keep a group current without babysitting — perfect for age- or premises-based cohorts. You can still add or remove individuals by hand at any time.
