A batch (or lot) is a traceable unit — a set of animals handled and sold together. Batches carry the traceability thread through the point where individual animals become product: as you record a processing transform (slaughter → carcass → product), Farmso keeps the link from every finished item back to its source animals.
Processing is guided by a workflow stepper — Arrival → Lairage → Slaughter → Carcass → Product — so each stage is captured in order, and you can print QR or thermal labels at the end for packs, cartons and pallets.
Use case
An abattoir receives a lot of 40 finished cattle. Staff scan the manifest in at Arrival, work the stepper stage by stage, and at the Product stage print QR labels for the boxed cuts. Every label resolves back through the carcass and the batch to the individual animals — so a later recall or a consumer scan lands on a complete, verifiable lineage.
Process a batch
- 1
Open Batches & Lots
In the web app, go to Batches & Lots.
- 2
Create a lot
Give it a lot number and add member animals (individually, from a group, or by scan-in).
- 3
Work the stepper
Advance the processing workflow — Arrival → Lairage → Slaughter → Carcass → Product — recording each transform.
- 4
Print labels
Generate QR / thermal labels for the resulting products so they can be scanned downstream.
Batches in the field
- 1
Open Animals → Batches
On the Animals tab, switch to the Batches segment.
- 2
Open a batch
Tap a batch to see its members, current stage and details.
- 3
Scan the manifest in
Use manifest scan-in to add animals to the batch as they arrive.
- 4
Advance and label
Move the stage stepper forward as processing progresses and print a QR label when product is ready.
Batches, lots and processing transforms unlock on Standard as part of supply-chain traceability. Bluetooth thermal label printers are optional hardware — camera and share/AirPrint labelling work on any paid plan.
FAQ
A recorded step where one traceable thing becomes another — a live animal becomes a carcass, a carcass becomes product. Farmso preserves the link so lineage survives the change.
