Biosecurity: disease alerts, quarantine & tracing

Keep outbreaks contained with quarantine status and zones, contact tracing and disease-control records — before a disease event blocks your movements.

Biosecurity is Farmso’s early-warning system for disease. It manages disease alerts, quarantine status and zones, contact tracing and disease-control records — so a suspected case is contained, documented and traceable instead of spreading quietly through your herd.

It matters because disease events don’t just threaten animals — they threaten trade. A restricted or quarantined animal should never be moved or sold. Farmso keeps that status visible and enforceable, so an outbreak is contained before it blocks legitimate movements.

Use case

A farmer notices scouring in a newly-arrived group and flags the animals as quarantined. Farmso marks their status, defines a quarantine zone at the premises, and — using the movement history — traces which other animals they were in contact with. Every treatment and disease-control action is recorded. When the vet clears them, the quarantine lifts and normal movements resume, with a full audit trail of what happened.

In the web app

Manage a disease event

  1. 1

    Open Biosecurity

In the web app sidebar, open the Biosecurity section to see active alerts, quarantines and zones.

  2. 2

    Raise an alert & quarantine

Create a disease alert, then set the affected animals or group to quarantined and define the quarantine zone on the relevant premises.

  3. 3

    Trace contacts

Use contact tracing to list animals exposed via shared movements or groups, and extend the quarantine if needed.

  4. 4

    Record control actions

Log disease-control records — tests, treatments, cleaning — until the event is resolved and the quarantine is lifted.

In the mobile app

In the field

  1. 1

    See status on the animal

An animal’s quarantine status shows on its detail screen and as a status pill in lists — you know at a glance not to move it.

  2. 2

    Act via Compliance

Biosecurity is surfaced through the More → Compliance module and animal status, so you can check restrictions before capturing a movement.

  3. 3

    Capture offline

Any status change or record you make queues in the Outbox and syncs when you reconnect.

A quarantined animal must not be moved or sold. Farmso surfaces quarantine status on the animal and in the Compliance module so a restricted animal never slips into a movement or sale.

FAQ

It walks each animal’s movement and grouping history — shared premises, transports and mobs — to surface the animals that were in contact, so you can quarantine the right set quickly.
